Park and garden history

4000 years of garden and landscape architecture history can be seen in London. The first 2000 years are in the British Museum. The second 2000 years having left increasingly visible traces on the ground. The oldest trace of a historically attested garden in England is buried beneath Cannon Street Railway Station. It was part of the Praetorium, the Roman governor’s palace, and had a garden pool. See the Museum of London website for more information.
