Who is the President of the Landscape Institute 2022-24

The Landscape Institute Royal Charter can be found from this link. Clause 11 states that  ‘The Institute shall have a President and Vice-President’. After June  2022 the LI was in breach of its Charter. This is because the word ‘shall’ has the specific legal meaning of ‘is required to’. If those who drafted had meant that ‘the Institute will have a President at future date chosen by its governing board’ then it would have used the word ‘will’ instead of the word ‘shall’. It follows that either

  • the Institute has no President and is in breach of its Royal Charter

OR

  • Brodie McAllistair is President of the Landscape Institute 2022-2024
